Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has donated N5million to the widow and children of Osaze Omorogbe, a community leader killed and burnt by kidnappers for leading security agents to foil their operation. Presenting the cheque to the widow and children on behalf of the Governor at a solemn ceremony at the family’s residence in Isawo, Ikorodu, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Community & Communications, Mr. Kehinde Bamigbetan praised the late Omoregbe for his heroic role. Bamigbetan was received by the Chairman of the Community Development Association, Mr. Ahmed Yusuf. Reading the condolence message personally signed by the Governor, the Special Adviser said the late Omoregbe paid the supreme sacrifice while responding to the Government’s charge to community development associations to support its effort to rid the state of kidnappers. A physically challenged man identified as Sani Labaran, fends for himself and family by driving a tricycle a.k.a 'Keke Napep' and also by controlling traffic in Lagos. Three notorious kidnappers terrorizing Kogi state, particularly Okene axis have been arrested by the State Police Command. The arrested suspects are Mohammed Abdulrazak, Yusuf Abona Jafaru  and Iliyasu Yusuf Nyamida. According to the State Commissioner of Police, Wilson Inalegwu, 'on the 30/08/2017 at about 9am, the Police Officers attached to OKENE Division on pin down duty stopped a Gulf Station Wagon, but the driver refused to stop, and was trying to escape but was given a hot chase by the operatives and eventually intercepted the car and arrested the three suspects at Okene Check point'. The Nigerian Army in a joint operation with the Nigerian Air Force has killed five top Boko Haram commanders in the North-east region. In a statement issued by Sani Usman, who is the spokesperson of the Nigerian Army, he confirmed that a large number of the terrorists were killed, including five commanders of the group. ‘‘The key Boko Haram terrorists Ameers neutralized within the week during the joint Artillery and Nigerian Air Force air bombardments include; Abu Dujana, Man Tahiru (Deputy to Boko Haram terrorist group Hisba leader), Man Chari, Malam Abdullahi (left) Abu Sa’ad (Right) and Goni Bamanga.” According to him, the operation was carried out based on received information about the location of some suspected top Boko Haram terrorists’ leaders. During the operation, Usman said the Nigerian Army artillery using Multi-Barrel Rocket Launchers lobbed many rockets over the suspected location the terrorists’ leaders were hiding.

Tweeting abuse would sometimes get you banned from the platform but Twitter's decision to ban user @nemuismywife has attracted ridicule on social media. It started on 20 August when he was repeatedly bitten by a mosquito as he was watching TV. After killing the mosquito, he tweeted: "Where do you get off biting me all over while I'm just trying to relax and watch TV? Die! (Actually you're already dead)." He added a picture of a dead insect to his tweet. Some time later he received a message from Twitter saying his account had been frozen and cannot be reactivated. A suspected ritualist was this afternoon set ablaze by a mob at Challenge bus stop in Mushin. Three suspected ritualist who pretended to be insane were found with ATM cards, phones, and blood stains on their clothes under a tunnel in the area. The mob beat them and in the process, set one of them ablaze. The timely intervention of the police saved the two other suspects from been burnt to death. Five persons have been arrested in connection with the attack.
